Ocean City was ranked as New Jersey's Best Beach overall as announced at the seventh annual State of the Shore Media Event held in Sandy Hook.  Ocean City also received top honors for Best Beach for Day Trips and Ecotourism.

Mayor Sal Perillo was thrilled by the ranking, "We are honored to receive this designation and proud of our seven-mile stretch of safe, clean beaches.  We welcome everyone to come and see for themselves why we are known as America's Greatest Family Resort."

Ocean City has made many improvements recently that attract day trippers in addition to a multi-million dollar beach replenishment effort, including aesthetic enhancements to the boardwalk and downtown improvements.  The City hosts over 260 events many that are free,
including Night in Venice and the Baby Parade, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

With the New Jersey's Best Beach rating, Ocean City experienced it's best season in years setting records for beach tag sales and parking revenues.
